This week's Bump Day started off as a version of "BitterSweet Symphony" by The Verve. First came the drums at a bit faster tempo, then some basic bar chords were laid down, but I had the feeling that I could do better, and decided to remove the bar and see what shapes I could find to work in a new way. I will always remember the day I was working a sound gig for my friend Dan Ashley and overheard Jorge Santana giving a brief lesson to someone about how liberating it is once you free up the index finger from bars (pun intended). I'll never forget that. I found some shapes that harmonized with the progression and proceeded to lay the wood. Then came the hi hat and some BASS. Then Vocals that are somewhat ripped from a lofi track I heard working at the cafe. Ended up sounding like Cake to me. Used the Banjo for the Bittersweet-esq melody and did some exercise in the backyard. Whiling doing so, MJ uppercutted my chin and I almost lost my cool. It's a shame how many people take their anger out on people and animals that love them without condition. I know if I ever do that, it's time to switch up my life, whether that be what I do or what I put in my body. These days I'm constantly jonezing for something to take the edge off, but I know booze and won't do the trick. That stuff is all a trick, but man, is it a convincing one... I hope someday the fiending feelings will subside. Been super anxious too... It probably has to do with the lack of progress made on the HBC Movie edit and all the coffee. Drinking caffeine and not getting anything done does not really ease the tension that is for sure. Well, until next Bump Day !
Here is a video from a while back my good friend Esteban did of Bob Rabbit on Bump Day a few months ago. He cruised through at 8 AM like an OG and filmed the process go down and even followed me to the Bus Stop and into Work at a place called Echo Coffee. Did this routine every Wednesday for about 9 Months. Just ended my Time as a Barista at Echo, but the moments spent, both the good and the bad, will live in my heart until my days are through. Thank you to all the Human Beings who came to Echo looking for a home and found something like one. I know I did.
Been hard at work the past couple months growing the Cold Brew business and charting my own destiny upon the waters and stars of life. At about 40 units / week, the World Harvest Orphanage in Haiti will have a budget for water, food, clothing, education, and health care. Thats the mission: pay my bills and help those kids to live a fruitful life in Haiti and someday change the world like Rony Pierre has.
This was a great Bump Day. The Mood was grim as Joey arrived at the casa, but the power of music lifted the spirits of Bob and something great came together. 1st go at creating an Item for the week to sell as something exclusive and special. Fingers Crossed someone digs in!!
Here’s a music video shot in Leogane, Haiti with my good friend Rony Pierre about 2 years ago. We were on a wild trip across the island to record music and found the time to get the footage for this video. I mixed down the song shortly after, but it took about 18 months to get started on and finish editing the video. My goal before I die is to defeat the habit of procrastination.
