BOB RABBIT PROJECT is a non-profit organization Bob founded in 2016 working to provide the creative and business-minded individuals of this world with quality computers.
The project began in effort to solve a problem he became acutely aware of while teaching English in Haiti. As a musician, he naturally gravitated towards the musicians in his classroom, and after class would play songs and sing with them. One afternoon he accompanied a few students to their music studio down the road, enticed by the conviction they shared to record their music and express their lives to the world. After jamming in a circle with two guitars and a tenor sax in what looked to be a bombed out warehouse, a single light next door flickered on and the young men signaled the power had been switched on by the government and it was time to record. The whole group raced inside the 90 + degree control room and switched on the outmoded PC tower, and after 20 minutes of wait time, the engineer, _____ , had managed to open up Pro Tools 7 (circa 2006) and the vibes were moving. Bob began playing his signature rabbit jazz on the Midi keyboard and all were overjoyed with the sounds they were hearing. _______ and the gang began singing atop the chords and smiles were all around, total and complete good vibes, then BLACK...there went the power, and the inhibitions of systemic poverty sucked out all the energy. The whole gang was a heart broken. They waited for a while, but to no avail, and Bob walked home in the pitch black Haitian night thinking, "I will help those dudes make music if its the last thing I do." And so began Bob Rabbit Project.
WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT:
Hello Friends and Good People,
Bob Rabbit here, a musician at heart in the US working to provide hard-working, talented, community driven individuals in Haiti get the tools they need to continue creating value for themselves and their community.
Through past efforts, we've helped Charles Eddyson get a new computer and Bernard Stiven build a solar powered charging business in his community.
Charles now runs a kids club where children come to eat, learn, and enjoy life twice a week.
Bernard supports his family and his business has become invaluable asset to the community.
The goal of this fundraisers is to provide 1 laptop, 1 recording interface, and 1 microphone for 3 individuals: Rony Pierre, Lestanmy Duverge, and Emogene Cine.
Rony Pierre, a great individual and musician with incredible heart and love for his people.
Lestanmy Duverge, an engineer and entrepreneur writing and recording music each day at Cadence Studios, the business he founded and runs from his home.
Emogene Cine, the maestro and teacher of many young Haitians. A studio founder, music engineer and producer. It was a recording session with Cine that inspired Bob Rabbit Project
A working computer and the means to create content are absolutely pivotal to becoming a positive influence in their communities. These are all young men I know personally and who will put to great use the gift of good technologies.
Each care package is about $1000 in total, with the additional $500 budgeted for any odds and ends that will need to be taken care of while delivering the computers in December. I will be delivering them myself to Archaié, Léogâne, and Carrefour.
For all the good people who are able to support this mission, there is a celebration ofArt, Compassion, and Humanity in San Francisco on November 11th that all donors are welcome to attend.
