HAITIAN BREEZE CAFE PHASE 2 FUNDING
Haitian Breeze Cafe is a Project I began a year ago to help a man named Rony Pierre start his own Cafe in Leogane, Haiti with the ultimate goal of equipping Rony with the means to sustain his own life and provide a bit of cash each week to the World Harvest Orphanage in which grew up. With the help of many, we raised about $7000 to renovate Rony's building and get the equipment necessary to start serving drinks and food to the community. The cafe opened for business on Rony's 30th birthday, November 18th, 2018, and has been fighting to stay open since. Political tumult and the difficulties of systemically impoverished conditions have brought their setbacks, but we are still alive and fighting to finish the project.
There is still work to be done. And we are on our way!
To elevate Haitian Breeze Cafe to a sustainable business that helps Rony and his compatriots eat and rise in their community we need to take care of the following list:
- Finish construction of the bathroom
- Buy chairs for the cafe (currently renting them and its devouring any profit)
- Install Wifi Connectivity (currently renting that as well, same story)
- Buy a sound system for daily music and live music events.
- Replenish the stock of goods and start a contract with Prestige--the major beer distributor on the Island.
- Complete the lighting and electrical work still need in the cafe.
To complete this list and get Rony and his workers everything they need to sustain their own business, we will need $4000 total. I will be traveling down to Haiti in August to see that the work is finished and the cafe is fully equipped and capable of generating a profit each day.
All Funds raised on this page go to a secure account that I will have access to in August to take care of the list while I am in Haiti. I've found in doing this work, being there in person to see the funds go exactly where they need to is more reliable and efficient than simply sending it down.
Unfortunately, I have yet to achieve the 501(c3) Charitable Donation status, so all donations are not tax deductible for the time being. Someday Bob Rabbit Project will be there, but for now, help must come from the heart, your belief in Humanity, and the work we are doing to help people in some of the most difficult circumstances on Earth. If you believe in Karma, this is massive seed we are planting in this world.
At this point, through crowdfunding and my own pocket, about $9000 has been invested into this project of Sustainable Income in Haiti. It has no doubt been a grind and the stress has taken its toll on myself and my life, but it is worthwhile. The cafe has brought new hope to many lives in Rony's community and inspired many people here in the states and perhaps on a global level.
The Haitian Breeze Cafe movie is below and you can see for yourself the journey to now. May we finish strong and do great things here on Earth while we've got the chance!
Thank you and God Bless You for helping this project towards its completion,
